Chamber Insider

from the manager

The summer of ’10 is on the back stretch, with July and August finished. However, the common question is “ What do you know about the college?” All I know is that Mayor Kenny Evans is doing his best to “get it through the hoop.”

While the biggest potential, the college is not the only thing happening. In the last two months, we have had ribbon cuttings for five new businesses: ABC Accounting, Polish Plus Salon, Chasin’ a Dream Outfitters, My Sister’s Bakery & Deli, and Mattress Experts. There has been a Grand Opening for the Comfort Inn (ex Holiday Inn Express) and the groundbreaking for a vastly expanded Messinger Funeral Home. In that time frame, Colonial Cabinets and De Szendeffy Homes were awarded major statewide awards. Congratulations to all for their efforts and their investments in Rim Country.

In support of our existing and new members, the Chamber helped to sponsor three very successful Chamber Mixers: National Bank of Arizona/Macky’s Grill, Rimside Grill and the Chapman Auto Rodeo Mixer. The Chamber also helped sponsor, with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the first Shred-A-Thon, to enable businesses to get rid of sensitive paper materials and benefit a local charity. The Chamber and APS co-sponsored the 126th Rodeo Parade which was attended by approximately 3,000 viewers and 200 participants.

All of this is to say that there is more than the college to think about in Rim Country. Come out and support your friends and neighbors. Come to the Farmer’s Market on Saturdays at Sawmill, and visit the booths and see the excitement that is happening.

Look at the new furniture complex (ReStore, Roud’s Fine Furniture, Sears and Matrtress Experts) on the southwest corner of Hwy. 87 & 260. Check out the “Payson Design Center” next to the new location of Payson Pet Care Veterinary Clinic (1014 N. Beeline).

While this is not all that is going on, and not the only new businesses in Rim Country, it does show that new activity is happening here in Rim Country. To keep it happening, and have the goods and services we want and need, BE LOYAL, BUY LOCAL.
