Why Now?

Tea Partyers want to “take back our country” and put a stop to “out of control federal spending.” My question is “why now”?

Where were they when the prior president gave a trillion dollar tax cut to the top 2 percent of the wealthiest Americans? No tea partyers then!

Where were they when the prior president committed trillions of dollars for a bogus, unnecessary war of choice launched on a pack of lies? No tea partyers then!

Where were they when thousands of American soldiers and over 100,000 innocent Iraqis were killed in an illegal American war? No tea partyers then!

So, why now? Well, in January 2009, Barack Hussein Obama became the first black president of the United States of America, a country whose Founding Fathers, sadly and ironically, owned black slaves!

The election of a black president in America is a monumentally important event! So, lo and behold, what happens in February 2009? The tea partyers begin to form to “take back their country.” My question was answered when I saw the recent Beck/Palin tea party rally in Washington. Two things about that rally answered my question of “why now.” First, the attendees at that rally were urged to turn to the values of the aforementioned Founding Fathers. They were slave owners so, no thanks! Second, the complete whiteness of the Beck/Palin rally served to re-emphasize America’s shameful racial history, and provide the obvious answer to “why tea partyers now.”
