Highway 87 Narrowed To One Lane North Of Bush Hwy.

Highway improvement work will require Highway 87 traffic to be switched to one lane in each direction as of Sept. 10 along a six-mile section (mileposts 204-210) north of the Bush Highway/Saguaro Lake turnoff, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Crews began establishing the work zone on Sept. 7, with northbound Highway 87 narrowed to one lane starting four miles north of the Bush Highway interchange.  Southbound Highway 87 traffic will be narrowed to one lane and shifted on Sept. 10 so both directions of traffic share the highway’s northbound lanes. The traffic switch will allow crews to continue work on a $10.7-million project to add a mile-and-a-half stretch of a third southbound lane (mileposts 207-205.4), reinforce shoulders and embankments, modify slopes and make other safety improvements along Highway 87.
