Whether you are a grandparent or have a grandparent, creating gifts that celebrate and capture stories and memories is a great way to celebrate one generation to the next.
An upcoming workshop at the Payson Public Library will offer gift suggestions for Grandparents Day — Sept. 12 — and other holidays, as well as provide several writing exercises.
Participants will leave with their most meaningful stories written down, as well as having learned how to:
• Write a legacy letter to family members telling them what they have meant to you and how they influenced you.
• Create a booklet with a photo of you (or a parent or grandparent) from each decade, with a description of what was going on in the photo and in the person’s life during that time.
• Create a booklet with a picture of each family member and either a letter for the recipient or a story from you about each person included.
For more about these projects and other ideas, attend the upcoming six-hour workshop at the Payson Public Library on Monday, Sept. 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Everything from writing, printing, binding and other publishing options will be discussed.
The workshop is $95 for the day and includes snacks, all materials and a copy of Dee Dees’ book “Write Your Life Story in 28 Days.” You may also bring a lunch.
Pre-registration is required. To register, email Dee at deedees@lifestorylady.com.
Dees is a personal historian. She lives in Pine and Gilbert. Contact her at (480) 703-1244.
