Dominating golf tournaments has become commonplace for Payson Women’s Golf Association Nine Hole member Ann Adams.
A year ago, she was a third-place finisher in a “three blind mice” formatted tournament and also a closest to the pin winner.
Earlier this summer, she played her way to a berth in the prestigious Arizona Women’s Golf Association Medallion tournament, tied for first in a “Fielder’s Choice” fray, won a low net skirmish and took top honors in a links competition in which golfers were allowed to discard their three worst holes.
In August, Adams won another “three blind mice” tournament and was cited for a closest to the pin win and carding a birdie.
Most recently on the PWGA Lady Niner circuit, Adams swung her way to the President’s Cup low net championship, outdueling silver medalist Hazel Beddall, third-place finisher Donna Larson and fourth place Carolyn Davis.
Also in the top eight tournament finishers were CeCe McCain, Debbie Vincent, Norma Fallers and Ellarea Davison.
In a PWGA fewest putts tournament, also played in August, Isabella Sockrider and Lucy Maisch tied for first. The battle for second turned into a tie between Jil Coleman and Beddall.
Closest to the pin winners for August included Debbie Nichols and Davis.
Lady Niners members are issuing an invitation to those interested in joining the PWGA to call Kelly at (928) 478-0003 or Debbie at (928) 595-1176 for more information. The group plays each Thursday morning at Payson Golf Course.
