Hello again, fellow Creekers.
Well summer appears to be on its way out. The weather outside is amazing, but temperatures have been creeping into the low 50s at night here recently.
This means that the leaves falling and colors changing cannot be too far behind.
October was actually the month I was first re-introduced to Christopher Creek. I just love the quiet cool of the pines here. There is just something a little extra special about this place. It doesn’t hurt that Halloween is one of my favorite holidays either (my name is Jason after all). Anyway, for me, outside of the beautiful sights and quiet sounds, there is a bit of reflection and nostalgia for me come this time of year that I always look forward to.
Speaking of the end of the summer. That means it is time for the 32nd Annual Flatlanders Party, which was just held on Tuesday. This is the town’s celebration of where we say goodbye to our summer season neighbors and friends and thank all of the wonderful visitors who contribute a lot to our little economy up here.
Full-time Rim Country residents and flatlanders alike are always welcome to this fun celebration and a good time is always had. I will have all the details and likely some pictures of this event to share next week.
Also, Tammy Milhon wanted me to make sure to wish her grandma, Mimi Tidwell, a happy 90th birthday on Oct. 3. Mimi is a longtime resident of Christopher Creek (30-plus years) and I am sure many of you know her well. So, happy birthday, Mimi!
As always, I do need your help with content and stories! For anyone wanting to submit information from the Christopher Creek area for inclusion in our weekly article, please e-mail me at: firstname.lastname@example.org. Any submitted pictures must be full-size (typically around 1MB per picture). The cutoff time for inclusion in Friday’s article is close of business on Monday.
Thanks again for reading the column.
