The Payson Longhorns celebrated homecoming in a big way Friday evening on PHS field thrashing state third-ranked Round Valley 42-0.

The Horns took a 35-0 lead into the halftime locker room and then coasted to the easy win behind a dominating defense and stellar line play.

The win improves the Horns record to 3-1 overall but more importantly the team is 1-0 in the East region title chase.

In other 3A games around small town Arizona, Blue Ridge beat Alchesay 42-0, Snowflake whipped Globe 59-8 and Show Low ran over Chinle 59-8. Eloy Santa Cruz, Payson’s foe next week, lost to Parker 37-6.
