Aug. 27-28 was The 11th Annual Highlands Garden Conference held at the Mazatzal Casino in Payson. The theme this year was sustainable gardening, based on the concept that our gardening practices can produce food for and beauty in our homes and communities today without compromising the resources needed for future generations.
Thanks to all of the Master Gardeners and volunteers who helped make this event a success! Karen Burke, Lauren Catchcart, Reta Cruse, Beverly Emerson, John Emerson, Fred Jimenez, Forrest Hammer, Annette Kahler, Annette Monthey, Audrey Morris, Jerry Morris, Pearl Nancarrow, Pam Perling, Jeannie Putnam, Barbara Richards, Manuel Romero, Pat Romero, Sabrina Tuttle, Jerry Ullum, Cayci Vuksanovich, Doris Weakly, Ron Wilson, Robert Zache and Renee Zeising. It could not have happened without all of your hard work! You are the heart and soul that keeps us moving forward.
Also special thanks to the local residents in Payson who opened up their homes and businesses and spoke for the Friday demonstration tours: Glenn McCombs with Plant Fair Nursery, Rodd and Brenda Ross, Bruce and Jonie Wales, Dean and Darlene Younkers, Morris and Phyllis Brown, and Mike Brandt. Your generosity and hospitality were greatly appreciated.
