Payson Area Computer Association to meet

The Payson Area Computer Association will hold its regular monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m., Friday, April 1 in the meeting room of the Payson Public Library. 

The speaker will be Todd Longfellow, with an introduction to Linux.

Guests are always welcome. The first meeting is always free. Membership is only $10 per year, per family.

Ponderosa Men’s Breakfast

Another fabulous “Breakfast for a Buck” will be served at Ponderosa Baptist Church, 1800 N. Beeline, at 8 a.m., Saturday, April 2.

The featured speaker will be Michael Ottero, who will share about his Christian faith and some insights about the Islamic faith. Come, with friends, to enjoy great fellowship, good music, a super message and a special breakfast that still costs only $1. For more information, call (928) 472-8178.

American Legion Riders

The American Legion Riders April meeting is at Tiny’s Restaurant on Saturday, April 2.

Breakfast is at 9:15 a.m. with a business meeting to follow at 10 a.m.

Major topics include discussion of the progress enlisting the Payson business community in the Annual Fun Run to benefit Payson Supply Line. Interested parties are invited to attend.

Membership is open to any American Legion Member or immediate family.

Payson Raconteurs open to new members

The organization Payson Raconteurs, a gathering of area writers, meets weekly at 6 p.m. on Mondays in a private dining room at Tiny’s Restaurant. The organization is open to new members. All serious writers are invited.

Members read their works in progress for critique. Too, assignments are given each week, for those who wish to participate.

Payson Area Singles

This club has no dues, elections or couples.

It will be celebrating our first anniversary with a trip to Cliff Castle Casino in Camp Verde Monday, April 11. All Aboard America will pick up participants in a luxury tour bus at 9 a.m., Monday, April 11. 

To reserve a seat, get $5 to Nadine by Tuesday, April 5. Cliff Castle will be giving each rider $10. There will be games on the bus and a $7 buffet lunch at the Casino.

High Country Garden Club

The April 7 meeting of High Country Garden Club will be held at 7 p.m. at the First Southern Baptist Church, Colcord and Bonita Streets.

Gary Karlowski will present the program. He will demonstrate the steps of putting together and planting a hanging basket.

This is a hands-on program, so bring a trowel, garden gloves and a basket or container, if available.  The club will provide some baskets and plants, but those wishing to personalize a basket should bring your own materials.

Get ready for spring and the club’s Annual Plant Sale coming May 7.

Daughters of the American Revolution

The April meeting of the Daughters of the American Revolution will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, April 8 in the Payson Public Library conference room. The speaker will be Geneva Holehan who will be speaking on the topic “Selecting Charities (Separating the Wheat from the Chaff).” Guests and prospective DAR members are welcome to attend.

Rim Area Gardeners

On April 11, David Oberpriller, volunteer at Boyce Thompson Arboretum, will be speaking to Rim Area Gardeners Club at 7 p.m. at the Church of Christ on Tyler Parkway. Visitors are always welcome at RAG meetings.

Rock club meeting

The Payson Rimstone Rock Club will meet at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 13 in the Payson Library, 328 N. McLane Road, Payson.

There will be a presentation on Carlsbad Caverns.

Bridge results

Winners at the Tuesday Bridge Club March 29 were: Flo Moeur, first; Bonnie Sheldon, second; Kay Hutchinson, third.

Play is at 12:30 p.m. every Tuesday at Rim Country Health and Retirement Community. Area residents and guest are welcome.
