Zumbathon Raises $900 For American Heart Association

During Friday night’s April 1 Zumbathon Charity Event, there is no doubt that I had the best seat in the house. That evening, I got to watch right in front of me, a sea of red shirts adorned by 75 Zumba enthusiasts from Club USA, Senior Circle, Curves, GCC, Payson, Pine, Strawberry, Star Valley, Joseph City, Holbrook, Cottonwood, Phoenix and Chandler dancing, shimmying and smiling together like one big happy Zumba family.

It was an exhilarating image of joy and laughter that I will treasure in my mind forever. The music thumped and our hearts pumped for two hours straight, and so many of the participants of all ages continued at their own pace the entire time. The collective energy and stamina were

amazing. By pooling our Zumba love and enthusiasm together, we raised just over $900 for the American Heart Association.

This incredible event would not have been possible without help from the following individuals and organizations, which I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart. Zumbathon committee members: Char Blakely, Lisa Evans and Christy VanderMolen; individuals: Don Blakely, David and Rachel Evans; Gary and Jerrod Walton, Yolanda Mier, Sue Fleming and Sharon Walsh; the Payson Senior Center staff; the Soroptimists; the Red Hat Ladies; Vita-Mart; PostNet; Curves; the Senior Circle; the Payson High School Drama Department and Tom Walling; KRIM; and the Payson Roundup. And a very special thank you to all who came and danced.
