Gearing up for motorcycle run for Payson Supply Line
Payson Post 69 of the American Legion Riders is beginning preparations for its sixth annual Charity Bead Run to benefit Payson Supply Line. Over the past five years the group has raised many thousands of dollars for this worthy charity, with last year’s event contributing more than $8,000. Members have made it the goal of the 2011 effort to raise at least $10,000.
With 30,000 more troops now being deployed to Afghanistan, Payson Supply Line’s mission becomes much more important to the morale of young men and women of the U.S. serving overseas.
The American Legion Riders is a nonprofit 501-3C association. All funds are contributed to the Payson Supply Line, which is the group’s only charity.
The 2011 annual event is being expanded to include many more local merchants and social organizations in the roster of stops from the motorcycle bead run.
Ride participants will be directed to more local businesses by increasing the number of stops in the ride, as well as extending the hours of the event to allow for a more leisurely visit of Payson.
The American Legion Riders are asking local businesses and social organizations to contribute in any material way they can — whether through cash donations, products or services. Make checks payable to Payson Supply Line or the American Legion Riders Post 69.
The Charity Bead Run will be held Saturday, May 7, starting at the American Legion Hall on East Highway 260 in Payson. In addition to the motorcycle fun run, activities will include raffles, live music, T-shirt sales, food and a silent auction.
