A Payson High School freshman that beat out 16 other high school students from throughout the state in a FFA speaking contest, will take on the rest of the country at an upcoming national convention.
In October, Danya Svir heads to Indianapolis, Ind for the 84th Annual National FFA Convention, where nearly 55,000 FFA members and guests will convene.
Svir will compete in the Creed Speaking Contest, which she placed first in at the FFA mid-winter conference held at the ASU campus in December.
“The Creed speaking competition requires contestants to recite the FFA Creed from memory and answer questions about its meaning and purpose,” said Katrina Kueny, PHS chapter reporter. “This competition is only for freshman students and helps develop public speaking skills and learn the history about the FFA.”
More than 500 FFA members competed at the FFA Mid-Winter conference with Svir the only member of PHS to place.
