Popsicles and Pinwheels for Prevention

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. On Saturday, April 23, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., the community is invited to attend a family event called Popsicles and Pinwheels in the Sawmill Crossing parking lot, behind Chili’s.

Besides face painting, local Soroptimist members will issue free Popsicles and pinwheels to kids while Childhelp staff offer parents a tour of the Childhelp Mobile Advocacy Center along with age-appropriate child abuse prevention reading material.

In addition, families can access free developmental screenings for Gila County children age 5 and under through the Gila County Health Department and sign up for free monthly books to be mailed to children age 4 and under through the Payson Public Library.

CASA will also be on hand with information on how to volunteer as a child advocate in the court system.

For more information, call Christy Walton at (928) 595-0406.
