Rich Staudt, a nationally certified and licensed occupational therapist, will be speaking at the Majestic Rim Apartments on Tyler Parkway at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 5. His topic will be Myofascial Release.
Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle, sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue.
Myofascial release helps patients with multiple areas of pain. It involves gently stretching and releasing constricted fascia (connective tissue). These tissues then become relaxed and flexible, moving as needed with the body.
Myofascial release addresses more than the immediate area of pain. Patients sometimes feel like they are reliving traumatic events and letting go of them in a tangible way.
Staudt trained in the treatment through John F. Barnes’ Myofascial Release Approach and has taught seminars in the approach since 1997.
Staudt is currently an occupational therapist at Payson Care Center.
The event is open to the community.
