Mike Hansen has had this great old Camaro just a couple of years, but he also has its complete history.
He is just its third owner. A friend of his had it for six or seven years before him, having bought it from the original owner.
Hansen said he kept bugging his friend to buy it and finally was able to convince him to turn it over. The car made its debut in the Rim Country Classic Auto Club show just last year, though his friend had shown it a few times before that.
The Camaro is all original except for the engine, which is a ZZ4 V8 with 4-speed transmission.
It has been joined in the Hansen fleet by a 1958 Chevy Pickup. That vehicle is currently in the rebuilding process.
Hansen said he has always liked older vehicles — something he grew up with. He said his dream collector car would be a hot rod 1936 Ford Pickup.
The collector gene runs in Hansen’s family, both his sons have classics, one has a 1966 Chevy Pickup and the other has a 1966 Ford Pickup. The older boy’s vehicle is a show truck, he said.
None of the collector vehicles are daily drivers, he said, though his Camaro could be.
