The lack of precipitation in conjunction with high winds has brought dry conditions to our area. Our temperatures remain cold at night with lows below the freezing mark in the upper 20s and highs in the mid 50s to lower 60s.
A fire broke out north of Promontory on the Black Mesa Ranger District Saturday, April 23. The Apache-Sitgreaves Forest Service sent fire crews to the scene of the 20-acre fire. A fire crew from Fort Apache was also dispatched. It is speculated that the fire is human caused and under investigation.
A fire weather watch was issued by the National Weather Service in Flagstaff Wednesday, April 27 for Friday April 29 from the morning through the evening and expiring at 9 p.m. Friday. Strong winds and low relative humidity is forecasted for our area here to the White Mountains. With the previous windy conditions during this last week, this increases fire danger.
