What is your college degree and education?

Bachelors of Science in Agricultural Education w/Minor in Animal Science from the University of Arizona, class of 2010. Working on graduate courses, currently have 15 credits toward my Masters in Agricultural Education.

To accomplish your goals — you need passion, dedication and love.

Please tell us about your family:

My parents, Vicki and Curt Garner, have lived in a rural area outside of Sedona for the past 24 years. My parents are amazing individuals who always encouraged me to follow my dreams, and have passed their passion for animals down the line. I am an only child. The rest of my family is spread across the country from California to Wyoming and Colorado.

What’s your biggest pet peeve?

My biggest pet peeve is when people whistle through their nose because they haven’t blown it.

What is your favorite leisure activity?

My favorite leisure activity is rodeo.

Why did you choose to teach in Payson?

 Payson is the ideal community that I look forward to living in and being a part of for the rest of my life.

Who was your favorite teacher and why?

My favorite professor from the University of Arizona is Dr. James Knight, who welcomed me into the Agricultural Education Department, and guided me along the path for career success. He is an inspiration, and I hope one day to be a teacher like him.

What was your favorite subject?

Math! I have always enjoyed the math classes I took, it has always come relatively easy for me and I love it! I also enjoy helping my current Ag students with their math homework when they have difficulty grasping the subject.

What was your favorite year in school?

My favorite year in college was my 5th year, because I had the opportunity to student-teach at Gilbert High School with some outstanding Ag teachers.

What family influences brought you to where you are today?

My parents instilled a hard work ethic within me, the drive to be successful, and passion for life. I owe my accomplishments to my family, friends and outstanding individuals in my life.
