A look at psychology in the movies
Gila Community College is presenting a free, 5-week seminar on psychology in the movies.
Participants will examine different aspects of film, including the components of a movie and what makes a movie compelling. The course will look at why people want and appreciate psychological thrillers and how movies have characterized mental illness. Specific psychological disorders will be portrayed through a variety of films.
Each week, participants will view and discuss movie segments. Five of the following movies will be presented: Ordinary People, As Good As It Gets, Michael Clayton, A Beautiful Mind, No Country for Old Men, Black Swan, Fatal Attraction.
Attend this free seminar series from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Wednesdays through Aug. 17 on the Gila Community College campus in Payson.
