The Strawberry Patchers will hold their third annual Quilt Auction Saturday, Aug. 13 in the Pine Community Center Cultural Hall, at milepost 267.8 on Highway 87.
Doors open at 10 a.m. for registration and preview. The auction will start at 2:30 p.m. Admission is free. However, those who bring a non-perishable food item will be entered into the drawing for a special quilt held for after the auction. A piece entitled “Sylvester” made by Sharon Schamber could be yours! Opportunity quilt tickets will be available, along with “buy it now” quilts.
Those who have a quilt they would like to put in the auction can find the appropriate forms are available online.

Dr. Jass and The Heartbeats will perform in concert at 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 14 at the Payson Community Presbyterian Church, 800 W. Main St.

Free CPR class
The Mogollon Health Alliance, in conjunction with the Payson Fire Department, will be holding a free Heartsaver CPR class from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 15.

The Library Friends of Payson Bookstore is featuring an End-of-Summer Clearance of hardback books. Come in and pick up a fresh supply of books for those lazy, summer afternoons — and the coming fall nights.
Hardback books will be on sale at two for the price of one throughout August.
Recently, the bookstore has received several large donations of video cassettes. The library is weeding their non-fiction video collection as well. During the month, all videos will be priced at three for $1.
The bookstore is located to the right of the circulation desk just inside the Payson Public Library, 328 N. McLane Road.

Classic car raffle
Veterans Helping Veterans is having a raffle for a 1940 Buick 50 Special four-door. It is in great condition and it runs.
The drawing will be held Sept. 1. Tickets are $100 each and all proceeds to go Veterans Helping Veterans, a nonprofit home for disabled and homeless veterans. For more information, please call (928) 978-2802 or (928) 474-3920.
Farm dinner benefit
Fossil Creek Creamery will be hosting a farm dinner to benefit the Pine Strawberry Fuel Reduction Inc. from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 4.
Three talented chefs will prepare a five-course meal and a special wine pairing will be available with each course.
All local produce, meat, dairy will be used. Participating in preparing this fabulous feast are Chef Akos Szabo, Top of the Rock in Tempe; Chef Gerardo Moceri, Gerardo’s Firewood Cafe in Payson; and Chef Tracy Dempsey, pastry chef from Scottsdale. Vita-Mart will donate produce from their 25 local producers.
