The Strawberry Patchers will hold their third annual Quilt Auction Aug. 13 in the Pine Community Center Cultural Hall, at milepost 267.8 on Highway 87.
Doors open at 10 a.m. for registration and preview. The auction will start at 2:30 p.m. Admission is free. However, those who bring a non-perishable food item will be entered into the drawing for a special quilt held after the auction. A piece entitled “Sylvester” made by Sharon Schamber could be yours! Opportunity quilt tickets will be available, along with “buy it now” quilts.
Those who have a quilt they would like to put in the auction can find the appropriate forms online.

Library plans programs for tweens and teens
The Payson Public Library is planning several programs for young people of the community in their tween and teen years. The programs start in September, so registration is taking place soon.
First up is Scrapbooking for Teens. This is the program for those who want to make their pictures look nice and neat, but don’t have the time, the money or the know-how.
The library’s free scrapbooking class once a week. Participants should bring several pictures of a holiday, vacation, etc. and they will be shown how to scrapbook a couple pages to take home.
All the supplies are provided; participants just need to bring pictures.
Classes begin Saturday, Sept. 3 for those 10 to 19 years of age. Meetings are from 11 a.m. to noon the first Saturday and from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. the first Wednesday of the month.

Aspiring young authors are invited to take part in the library’s Creative Writing Class for Teens in which they will learn how to be a stronger and more creative writer.
The class will meet the second Tuesday of every month starting Sept. 13. A session for younger participants, ages 9 to 14, will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a session for those 15 to 18 from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Young people from the ages of 10 to 18 have a place to go to read and discuss popular young adult books on a regular basis. A Teen Book Club is organizing at the Payson Public Library.
In addition to reading and discussing a book together, there will be activities involving the book that is read.
The club will meet the second Thursday of every month starting Sept. 15. The session for those 10 to 14 is from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and for those 15 to 18, the meeting is from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
