A year after opening Mattress Experts, owners Kristine McCormack and Cindy Gregory say the biggest shock has been how well things have worked out.
Even in a down economy, the store, at 221 E. Highway 260, suite 221, has exceeded both of their expectations.
“It has been a good year and we certainly would like to thank Payson,” Gregory said.
“Our expectations were never to come here and make a ton of money, we are just happy to provide a service,” McCormack said.
To celebrate a wonderful year and more to come, Mattress Experts is hosting an anniversary special Aug. 20 with food and drinks. Everyone is invited to attend and enter a drawing to win a free mattress.
The store is also hosting a big sale from Aug. 16 through Aug. 31.
Being the sole mattress store in the Rim Country, McCormack and Gregory said they take their positions very seriously and so have not hired anyone else on full time.
Both women spend at least six days a week in the store and have 55 years of experience between them.
“We are not only selling a product, but ourselves and no one can take care of our customers like us,” Gregory said.
Mattress Experts offers a complete line of mattresses from Sealy, Sealy Posturepedic, Stearns and Foster, Simmons and Tempur-Pedic, as well as headboards, pillows, mattress toppers, sheets and Tempur-Pedic accessories.
Tempur-Pedics, one the more expensive options, has also been one the store’s top sellers.
About half of the store’s sales volume is made up of Tempur-Pedic sales.
Mattress Experts sells so many Tempur-Pedics that it is now the No. 3 single location seller of the line in the state.
“For a small town store” to beat those big Valley chains is huge, McCormack said.
Although Tempur-Pedics can run as high as $10,000, Mattress Experts carries queen beds starting at $399.
