Arizona Department of Transportation in coordination with a contractor has been cutting, clearing and removing trees and related debris in an eight-mile section along State Highway 260 west of Heber. The tree logs, brush and limbs were deposited at the Renegy green waste transfer area located east of Overgaard.
Much of the debris is a result of the many blown over trees that littered the side of the highway due to the damaging high winds our area experienced over the last two years.
The contract ended Aug. 17, however, according to a representative of the contractor, some final cleanup may occur following that date.
Small to large trucks have been observed making the trek from the clearing area to the transfer area through Heber Overgaard over the last couple weeks.
