There will be a blood drive in Pine from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 30 at the First Baptist Church gym, 4039 N. Highway 87.
All blood types are needed, however, Type O-negative is always in greatest demand.
Did you know blood donations can decline by up to 25 percent during holiday weeks? Since blood has a shelf life of 42 days, today’s donations can help save lives through the Labor Day holiday. Give blood through Aug. 31 and you could drive away a hero with a 2011 Jetta S, courtesy of Valley Volkswagen dealers.
Fossil Creek Creamery will be hosting a farm dinner benefit from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 4.
Three talented chefs will prepare a five-course meal and a special wine pairing will be available with each course.
All local produce, meat and dairy will be used. Participating in preparing this fabulous feast are Chef Akos Szabo, Top of the Rock in Tempe; Chef Gerardo Moceri, Gerardo’s Firewood Cafe in Payson; Chef Tracy Dempsey, pastry chef from Scottsdale. Vita Mart will donate produce from their 25 local producers.
Chuck Casey and his fiddlers will provide music under the stars.
All proceeds will benefit the Pine Strawberry Fuel Reduction Inc. Tickets are $75 per person and can be reserved by calling (928) 476-5178.
There will be limited seating, so make a reservation soon to join your neighbors for good food, wine and music under the stars for a good cause.
