Holiday house lighting contest entries are due

The 7th annual Rim Country Chamber “Light the Rim” house lighting contest, co-sponsored by Chapman Auto Center and the Payson Roundup Newspaper, is now accepting applications. The chamber, Chapman Auto Center or the Roundup must receive entries by noon, Friday, Dec. 9.

The theme, “Light the Rim,” combines community spirit and individual creativity by Rim Country residents. There is no charge to enter the contest.

Judging will take place on the evenings of Tuesday, Dec. 13 and Wednesday, Dec. 14. The lights must be lit from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on those evenings.

Prize money for the event, donated by Chapman Auto Center, is as follows: $250, first; $150, second; $100, third.

A map and list of entrants will be placed in the Friday, Dec. 16 issue of the Roundup and be available at Chapman Auto Center and the chamber.

Payson Blood Drive

There will be a blood drive in Payson from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 9 at Payson High School.

All December donors will be entered in a raffle for a travel package that includes weekend stays at Sedona’s Enchantment Resort, Wickenburg’s Rancho de los Caballeros and Phoenix’s Arizona Grand Resort, as well as a one-night stay at Tucson’s Westward Look Resort. The winner will also receive a $100 gas card courtesy of Valero (valid at all Corner Store locations).

Blood donations traditionally decline by more than 25 percent during holiday weeks.  Since blood has a shelf life of 42 days, today’s donations can help save lives through the winter holiday season.

To make a donation appointment, call 1-877-UBS-HERO (1-877-827-4376) toll free or www.UnitedBloodServicesAZ.org.

All blood types are needed, however, Type O-negative is always in greatest demand.
