Christmas boxes to fill

Optimist, Rotary and Kiwanis club members, the director of the Payson Senior Center, school district personnel, other non-profit representatives and interested individuals are working on a community effort to provide Christmas gifts for the area’s displaced and disadvantaged youth.

Possible items to be provided are hats, scarf and gloves, sweater/ hooded sweatshirt, flannel pajamas, underwear, socks, etc., and an age-appropriate book, game or puzzle. For more information, call Joan Young at (928) 472-2264.

Senior Angel program

Local residents and businesses may help less fortunate seniors in the community by stopping by any Edward Jones branch office during regular business hours to select a “Senior Angel” through Dec. 16. Shop for your chosen angel and drop off all gifts, which Edward Jones staff will deliver to Payson area seniors in need.

Branch locations are Suite B, 411 S. Beeline Highway and 113 W. Main St. in Payson and 4010 N. Highway 87 in Pine.

Pine Library ‘Tree of Giving’

You can give a gift to the whole Pine-Strawberry community in 2012 by purchasing a book for the Isabelle Hunt Memorial Public Library “Tree of Giving” fund-raiser. Our Christmas tree is up and ready for you to select the book (located on ornament). When the books arrive we will place bookplates inside noting your gift. Donations are tax-deductible. Any questions, please call 476-3678.
