Payson Senior Circle activities
Lunch and Learn, 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 14 representatives from Messinger Funeral Home will discuss Contingency Day Planning for Senior Circle members. Planning end of life arrangements ahead of time can be the most thoughtful thing one can do for loved ones left behind.
Advent and holiday services
The congregation of Mount Cross Lutheran Church invites members of the community to join in its Advent services at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 14.
There will be a soup supper at 5 p.m., with a small donation requested for the food, followed by the Advent service.
The soup supper will be in the log building, with the services taking place in the sanctuary.
Mount Cross is at 600 E. Hwy. 260, just east of Safeway.
Midweek Advent Services will be held at Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church, 507 W. Wade Lane, Payson, in preparation for celebrating the birth of Jesus.
Services will be at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 14 and 21.
The theme for the Advent Services will be Wait, Pray and Live by Faith.
Rim Country residents and visitors are invited to join the congregation for this traditional welcome to Christmas.

Calvary Chapel Payson will have the following services for Christmas: 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 21, Children’s Christmas program; 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 24, Christmas Eve service; 10:30 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 25, one service.
The congregation of First Baptist Church in Pine invites its Rim Country neighbors to join it for the Christmas Eve services to be held at the church at 4039 N. Hwy. 87 in Pine. There will be two services: one from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and a second from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Come help welcome the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ with carols, the story of His birth, a candle lighting ceremony and worship service. The schedule for Christmas Sunday is 10:30 a.m. worship service only.
Chamber December Mixer
The last Rim Country Chamber Mixer of 2011 is at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 14 at the Good Samaritan Majestic Rim on Tyler Parkway. It will be hosted by the Good Samaritan Lutheran Society, The Caring Presence and will feature a wine tasting by The Beverage Place.
Door prizes are needed for the event. Donations for the Payson Food Bank will be accepted.

Tea Party hosts Allen
Arizona State Senator Sylvia Allen will be the guest speaker at the Payson Tea Party meeting on Thursday, Dec. 15.
The Payson Tea Party meets at Tiny’s Family Restaurant, 600 E. Hwy. 260 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Sen. Allen will provide updates on forest issues, border issues, redistricting and general legislative issues.

Moose holiday party for children planned
The Greater Payson Moose Lodge will host its annual Children’s Christmas Party for all area children 12 years and under Saturday Dec. 17. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive at the Lodge at 1 p.m. with a gift and candy for each child in attendance.

It’s not just about books
Select from hundred of new books and gifts at the Books Are Fun Fair, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 20 and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 21 in the Payson Regional Medical Center West Lobby (Labor & Delivery entrance).
In addition to books, there will be unique gifts including photo albums, stationery, music and much more. Proceeds from the sale will go to support the many programs and scholarships offered by the Mogollon Health Alliance. Call (928) 472-2588 for more details.
