I want to thank all those holiday enthusiasts who drug out the lights, sawed the figures, blew up the Santas, penguins, reindeer, etc., and braved electrocution for the Seventh Annual Rim Country Chamber “Light the Rim” House Lighting Contest. The 24 entrants to the Lighting Contest all deserve an award for their energy, persistence (snow, rain, wind) and creativity in their highly individual house lighting.
This year, entrants were invited from all of Rim Country, and we have houses from Strawberry to Mesa del, and all locations in between, trying for the cash awards, and for the signs for the front yard proclaiming their awards.
The judges had a long evening, and a very hard time deciding the awards.
Congratulations to our first place, Richard Kubiak (Strawberry); second place, John and Linda Voyles; third place, Hunter Hardt; fourth place, Ted Spinney; and our two honorable mentions, BJ and Christine Bollier and Jeannie Coppins (Mesa del). Also, congratulations to all of you who took the time to enter, you may inspire others in 2012.
Thank you also to our sponsors, Chapman Auto Center and the Payson Roundup. Thank you to our judges, who shall remain unnamed, but spent three hours taking their lives in their hands, scoring sheets with flashlights, and trying to keep track of the next number or address.
Please go out and take a look at the great creations of our entrants (list in today’s Roundup and at the Chamber). You will find that they have done a great job.
Rim Country does “Light the Rim.”
