More than two dozen Rim Country homes were part of the 2011 Holiday House Lighting Contest. There are sure to be many more homes in our neighborhoods that didn’t participate in the contest, but still have wonderful displays to enjoy during an evening drive. Don’t delay; most displays will come down after Jan. 1.
The 2011 first-place winner in the contest is the home of Richard Kubiak (and his neighbors, who loaned him the space for his display). Kubiak is at 8720-47 Tonto Rim Drive in the Rimwood neighborhood of Strawberry.
Second place went to John and Linda Voyles of 501 S. Wade Court (across Mud Springs Road from the Hospice House); third-place honors went to a perennial winner, Hunter Hardt of 821 W. Pinto Circle (off Longhorn Road and Whiting in the Payson West area); Ted Spinney, another frequent lighting contest winner, took fourth place with his display at 1007 W. Chatham Drive (off Lakeshore, also in the Payson West area). Honorable mention awards were given to Jeanne Coppins, 8067 W. Hallway Dr. in Mesa del Caballo and BJ and Christine Bollier, 402 W. Arabian Way (off McLane Road in the Payson Ranchos area).
