Creekers Have Lost Many Longtime Friends Recently

Hello again, fellow Creekers.

A big part of this column is to keep this little community informed about their neighbors and friends.

I’d like to thank both Rod Britain and Linda Digman for providing me some short, but sweet memorial information.

Just to keep everyone updated — Curtis Keeling passed away Monday morning. He was in Mesa with his family. They brought him there on Saturday from the Payson Hospice. Curtis was a longtime friend from my Mill Avenue days in Tempe back in the early ’70s. We will have to lift a drink to him at the Super Bowl party at Chuck’s on Sunday.

Our deepest sympathy goes out to the family of Betty Lusson, she was a devoted and important member of the Christopher-Kohl’s Fire Department.

Also to the family of longtime resident and friend of many, Pearl Reynolds, our thoughts are with you all.

Chief Electra VanEckhoutte, is out for two total knee replacement surgeries. We wish her a speedy recovery. Captain Nick Fitch is standing in for Chief at this time.

Please welcome our two newest members to the department — John Digman, maintenance, first responder, firefighter and Chad Stluka, EMT, firefighter, wildland firefighter.

Don’t forget you can always call Linda for weather and road updates during storms at (928) 478-4011. She can also be e-mailed at linda@ckfire.org.

Lastly, just a quick reminder that the next CKFD boarding meeting will be Feb. 14 at 6 p.m.

I think it is always important to take a moment and reflect on those who are no longer with us and be thankful for the time that we have.

As always, I do need your help with content and stories! For anyone wanting to submit information from the Christopher Creek area for inclusion in our weekly article, please email me at: info@christophercreeklodge .com. Any submitted pictures must be full-size (typically around 1MB per picture). The cutoff time for inclusion in Friday’s article is close of business on Monday.

Thanks again for reading the column.
