Shelter Pets Hoping To Be Your Valentine

Here at the Humane Society of Central Arizona, life is good. Despite the cold weather and blustery wind, things are looking positive for us.

We’ve had 44 adoptions already this year! We are excited to be partnering up with the Fountain Hills PETCO more often, to participate in their “Think Adoption First” program, which encourages potential adopters to consider adopting from shelters and rescue groups, rather than buying from pet stores and breeders. Our next mobile adoption event at PETCO will be Saturday, March 19. We will have some of our adorable adoptables there, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., so come down and join us and be sure to spread the word.

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and it’s time to consider who you’re valentine is going to be. The dogs and cats here are hoping that they will get to be someone’s valentine. Whether you’d like a small dog or cat to cuddle with or a big dog to walk and hike with, chances are we have exactly what you’re looking for here at HSCAZ. Check out our website or for an updated list of our available animals. We encourage you to come down to the shelter to meet our amazing cats and dogs, and are conveniently open 7 days a week from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please visit us at 812 S. McLane Road, give us a call at (928) 474-5590 or view our web page

For those of you who purchased tickets to the Sweet Adelines concert on Saturday, Feb. 5, we hope you have a wonderful time! It’s not too late to purchase tickets either. Tickets are still available at $20 for adults and $15 for seniors and children 12 and under. Please contact Postnet, Rim Country Chamber of Commerce, the Senior Center, the HSCAZ Thrift Shop, or HSCAZ board members to purchase tickets for tomorrow afternoon’s event. Performance time is 3 p.m. at the Payson High School Auditorium. For information about purchasing tickets, call the shelter at (928) 474-5590, ext. 100 or 102.

Myst is a 1-year-old Snowshoe mix. She was found in an abandoned house by the people moving in. She was pretty shy when she first came in to the shelter, but has really blossomed into an affectionate, talkative girl. She is a “polydactyl,” with blues eyes and beautiful orange and gray markings in her mainly white, silky soft coat. Myst is an easygoing girl who will do best in an easygoing home. She is spayed and current on her shots.

Angie is a 2-year-old Lab/Pointer mix. She and her 4 pups were surrendered to Rabies Control in January. Angie is a loving and loyal gal who listens very well. She walks like a princess on the leash and gets along great with other dogs. She enjoys frequent walks and is ready to find her loving, forever home. She is spayed and current on her shots.

Holly is an 8-year-old Chihuahua. She was turned over by her owner in January. Holly is a sweet little girl who loves to cuddle up underneath her blankets. She tolerates other dogs but would love to be the only princess. She is good with older children, and she is spayed and current on shots.

Karma is a 7-year-old Dutch Shepherd mix who was transferred to us by Tara’s Babies. She is such a cutie pie! She likes to give high-fives and to shake your hand. She is a talkative little girl who is house and leash trained. She is tolerant of other dogs, so a meet and greet with other dogs will be required. She too, is spayed and up to date on her vaccines.

Little John

Little John is a 10-year-old Chihuahua, and his buddy Loco is a 5-year-old Chihuahua. Both are adorable little guys full of spunk and love. They are playful and outgoing and really like other dogs. They enjoy nap time and love to cuddle up in your lap. This pair of charming Chihuahuas are neutered, up to date on shots and ready to find a home to call their own.
