Ex-Horn Earns Academic Honors

Josh Frewin, a freshman kicker for the Greenville College football team, is one of eight members of the Panther gridiron squad to be named to the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference All-Academic team.

To make the team, a student-athlete must post a 3.5 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and compete in an intercollegiate sport. Frewin compiled a 3.58 GPA majoring in business with a specialty in sports management.

For the Greenville team, Frewin saw action on both the junior varsity and varsity teams. He finished the year hitting 23 of 23 extra point attempts and was 3-for-3 in field goals.

Greenville is a small Christian college located in Illinois near St. Louis.

Last spring Frewin, a member of the PHS class of 2010, agreed to attend Greenville after considering several other colleges. As a freshman, he played soccer, but gave it up to become a place-kicker for the Horn football team.

He received academic and athletic scholarships valued at about $17,000 per year.

He is the son of Kyle and Karen Frewin.
