New General Surgeon For Prmc To Speak

Dr. Zakaluzny

Dr. Ihor Zakaluzny has joined Payson Regional Medical Team as a general surgeon.

Dr. “Zak” is now part of Payson Surgery Associates located at 126 E. Main St. The doctor left a busy practice in rural Garrett County in western Maryland, with similar demographics and census to Payson. His particular interest is in gastro-intestinal diseases and endoscopy, including long-term medical and surgical management of patients with inflammatory bowel diseases.

Dr. Zak also has a keen interest in laparoscopic surgery, with significant experience in all types of hernia repairs. The doctor states that he was fortunate to develop his laparoscopic skills at the dawn of minimally invasive general surgery. His previous practice also involved the usual other aspects of general surgical care, including lumps and bumps, breast diseases, endocrine disorders, wound care and venous disorders.

Dr. Zak will be speaking at the Senior Circle from 11 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, Feb. 23. Reservations are required; please call (928) 472-9290.

Diabetic support: Free diabetic meter check kits will be given away from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, Feb. 28 at the Senior Circle. The Diabetic Support Group will also meet from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 28. Diabetic educator John Hancock will lead the group. Both the free meter check kits and the diabetic support group are open to the public.

Music therapy: Join Cynthia Sambrano, board certified music therapist for a discussion and demonstration of music therapy activities for seniors at 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 2.

Music therapy activities are designed to assist older adults in maintaining their quality of life and work toward maintaining or increasing mobility, range of motion, short-term memory, lung capacity, and auditory processing. Music therapy activities can also focus on stress reduction and dealing with depression or grief. The session will include an introduction to music therapy, qualifications of a music therapist, the benefits of music therapy for the senior population, plus a variety of fun, musical activities. A group has formed for Hand and Foot. Join the group at 9 a.m., Fridays.

A new group is forming for tole painting. The group meets at 1 p.m., Tuesdays. This group is for experienced tole painters only.

John. Why do you leave articles like this in the paper? I was half way thru it and then looked at the date.Feb. 15 2011. According to Ariz. Med. Board he is practicing in Maryland. I stay confused and you aren't helping it. (:
