Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be in a cliff dwelling at night? The Lower Cliff Dwelling at Tonto National Monument will be open on Saturday, Feb. 19, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The trail is paved, but steep, gaining 350 vertical feet in elevation in a 1/2 mile to reach the Lower Cliff Dwelling. If you do come to enjoy the night sky or the ambience of the dwelling be sure to bring a flashlight or headlamp for the walk to and from the dwelling. Park entrance gates will close to incoming traffic at 6:30 p.m., so get here early. This evening activity is free. Tonto National Monument is located four miles east of Roosevelt Dam on State Highway 188. For more information on Tonto National Monument, please visit the monument Web site at www.nps.gov/tont.
