In October, Kevin Dick Investment Management Group President Kevin Dick joined forces with the Salvation Army in Phoenix to refurbish a busy community shelter.

In light of the effect the current economic climate has had on nonprofit organizations, Dick’s broker/dealer, Commonwealth Financial Network, coordinated a morning of giving back during its annual National Conference in Phoenix.

Dick, along with a peer group of 85 financial advisers and their guests, donated their time to assist the City of Phoenix Salvation Army shelter with this project.

The group renovated the interior and exterior grounds, which included cleaning and fixing up the lounge and kitchen, painting murals, gardening and sprucing up the children’s outdoor play areas with new mulch and picnic tables.

In addition, to celebrate Halloween, the team donated supplies for children to carve pumpkins and craft holiday-themed art projects.

“Participating in this event with my wife Carrie was a great reminder of the large impact we can have in people’s lives when we join with others to do the heavy lifting,” said Dick.

During the past year, hundreds of families and individuals in Arizona have sought help for the first time at the Phoenix shelter.

“Now is as important a time as ever to lend a hand to those in need, and we are wholeheartedly grateful for Dick and his peers for inspiring and enabling shelter visitors,” said Danielle Shankle, director of volunteer services with the Phoenix Salvation Army. “The renovations will no doubt make a positive impact each day on the community members utilizing our services.”

Commonwealth honored

Commonwealth Financial Network recently ranked “Highest in Independent Adviser Satisfaction among Financial Investment Firms” in the 2010 U.S. Financial Adviser Satisfaction Study by J.D. Power and Associates.

This is the first year the study has included independent adviser satisfaction.

Kevin Dick Investment Management Group of Payson, an independent financial advisory practice, has been affiliated with Commonwealth since 2009.
