The Payson Regional Medical Center Senior Circle will host two speakers and start several new classes during January.
Katy Rovetto, a motivational speaker and entertainer, will be talking about her book about soaring above the tragedies of life. Rovetto, widowed twice, shares her experiences through song and lecture. She will be appearing at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 19. Light refreshments will be served.
Dr. Lisa York will be speaking at the next Senior Circle Lunch and Learn Wednesday, Jan. 26. Dr. York’s topic will be fibromyalgia. The Lunch and Learn is from 11 a.m. to noon, a light lunch is served and the event is free. Please call (928) 472-9290 for reservations.
Start 2011 with exercise
A new exercise class is forming for those with physical disabilities. Rose Galloway will be leading this class.
Galloway, who suffers from several diseases, has set out on her own journey of healing through diet and exercise. Classes will start Tuesday, Jan. 10 and will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. If you are interested in attending, please contact the Circle at (928) 472-9290.
The Senior Circle has lots of options for starting out your exercise routine this year. For only $15 a year all our classes are free and you can attend as many as you like.
Monday, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., Qigong, similar to tai chi — great for stress reduction and balance.
Monday, 10:15 a.m., Zumba Gold — fun dance class to a video led by Christy Walton, certified instructor.
Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Feeling Fit — video-led exercise class for all levels. Class is great for strength training and a cardio workout.
Tuesday, 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Exercise with Rosemary — this is a live class targeting those with fibromyalgia, stroke recovery, arthritis or other physical challenges.
Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., Zumba Gold — live class with Christy Walton.
Thursday, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., Qigong.
Thursday, 10:15 a.m., Zumba Gold — video class led by Christy Walton.
Friday, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Feeling Fit.
Senior Circle members receive a substantial discount at the Tonto Apache Gym. Tonto Gym offers a fantastic water aerobics class, jacuzzi and Senior Circle. Membership fees are due now.

Monday, 1 p.m., Bunco — fun dice game with a group of fun ladies.
Monday, 3 p.m., Scrabble.
Tuesday, 1 p.m., Pinochle.
Thursday, 1 p.m., Wii Bowling — great exercise and helps with balance.
Last call for the trip to the Broadway Palms Dinner Theatre for “Chicago.” The show is Jan. 20. The $89 per person cost includes dinner and transportation.
