Since 1957, Payson Regional Medical Center has delivered babies, and the first baby delivered in the new year receives special recognition.
Sunday, Jan. 2, Megan and Jeff Vandermeer became the proud parents of the first baby born at the hospital in 2011. Ryker Laine Vandermeer was born at 6:20 p.m., weighing 7 pounds and 1 ounce. He was 19 inches in length at birth. He is the second child of the Vandermeers, joining older brother DJ.
Jeff Vandermeer was home on leave from the Army, where he is serving oversees, to witness the birth of his son.
