The next Payson Shred-A-Thon will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, or until the truck is full, whichever comes first, Friday, Jan. 14 in the Walmart parking lot. Look for the TNT Shredding truck. The cost per bankers box (10”x12”x15”) is $6, cash or check for payment. Other sized boxes may be used, but the cost will be estimated based on volume. TNT Shredding will donate part of the proceeds to Kiwanis.

Jan. 12 Wednesday

Payson school district to have half-day Wednesday

Payson Unified School District will observe a half-day in-service day Wednesday, Jan. 12.

Julia Randall, Payson and Frontier Elementary Schools dismiss at 11:45 a.m. Lunch will be served to students before they depart. Rim Country Middle School dismisses at 12:30 p.m. after serving lunch. Payson High School dismisses at 12:05 p.m. without serving lunch, followed by a brief, optional club period.

The RCMS/PHS buses depart from the schools at 12:35 p.m.

Payson Center for Success High School does not observe the half-day in-services and will operate on its regular schedule.

Jan. 13 Thursday

• Qigong at GCC: 8 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. with Penny Navis-Schmidt

• Payson Public Library: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Qigong for health and well being

Begin the New Year with a commitment to heath, serenity and well being. Chi Gong, or Qigong, often called Chinese Yoga, is an easily learned moving meditation that promotes health, vitality, balance and overall well being.

Penny Navis-Schmidt has been teaching a variety of Qigong classes in the Payson area for more than 12 years. Join her during the Spring semester at Gila Community College, Thursday mornings from 8 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. Class begins Jan. 13 and there is still time to register for HPE 101.

Registration fees are waived for students 60 years old and older.  

Enjoy Irish Fairy Tales at PHS

Payson’s Junior Thespians proudly present an evening of Irish Fairy Tales: Blarney, Blather and Balderdash by Patrick Rainville Dorn.

Attend and be completely delighted with the group’s young theatrical talent emerging through the junior drama club sponsored by the high school theatre department.

Performances are in the high school auditorium at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 13. Tickets are $3 for adults and $2 for students.

Community Breakfast

Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church, 507 W. Wade Lane, Payson, hosts a Community Breakfast from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., Friday, Jan. 14.

Breakfast includes scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, hash browns, coffee and juice.

Rim Country residents and visitors are invited to join us for food and fellowship. A free will offering will be accepted.

The church will host a breakfast on the second Friday of every month from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.

Shred-A-Thon Jan. 14 will benefit Kiwanis program

The next Payson Shred-A-Thon will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, or until the truck is full, whichever comes first, Friday, Jan. 14.

Businesses and individuals can take advantage of this mobile shredding service to properly dispose of sensitive documents onsite in the parking lot of Walmart, 300 N. Beeline Highway. Look for the TNT Shredding truck parked near the highway in the Walmart parking lot.

The cost per bankers box (10”x12”x15”) is $6, cash or check for payment. Other sized boxes may be used, but the cost will be estimated based on volume. TNT Shredding will donate part of the proceeds to Kiwanis. Bring sensitive documents, get them shredded, and support Kiwanis Dental Program.
