Lab-Pit Mixes Make Great Companions

The Humane Society of Central Arizona has seen all types of dog breeds come through the front door. We’ve had different types of purebreds and all kinds of mixed breeds.

One of our favorite mixed breeds is the Lab/Pit mix. We have had great success with these mixes and have a new bunch of pups who are awaiting adoption. Friendly, outgoing and loyal are a few words to describe these precious pups. Though they will need some basic training, they will make great companions for any type of household.

A puppy is a lot of responsibility, but the rewards are worth it. Please be sure to prepare yourself for all the things that come with owning a puppy, such as potty training, learning manners and walking on a leash. Make sure you prepare yourself and your home for your new puppy. Items you may need are a leash and collar, puppy food, feeding bowls, toys, treats and a crate. Bringing a new puppy home is going to be fun and exciting, and you’ll be off on your new adventure before you know it.

Socialization and training are key factors for young pups, and will help them mature into a well behaved dog. You may think that the hardest part of raising a puppy is getting them to potty outside or learn new tricks, but the tough times may come when your dog reaches 6 to 8 months of age. Your “teenage” pup may not listen to you or follow the rules. If you’ve raised a teenager, then you’re familiar with the behavior. It’s important to be patient and willing to work through this time because it will pass. Owning a pet can be a little difficult, but if you work through the problems and wait it out, you’ll be glad that you did.

Females Noel and Holly are little sweethearts. Their brothers Prancer, Dasher, Comet, Joseph and Mack are handsome little guys. This is a group of playful, loving puppies. They have all been spayed or neutered and are up to date on their vaccines, including rabies. They can be a little shy at first, but will warm up with some cuddle time and kisses! Come see them at the shelter located at 812 S. McLane Road.
