Organizing for creative people
Do you need help getting organized? A free workshop titled “Organizing for Creative People” will take place from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 22 at Payson’s Home Depot.
Arizona Press Women is partnering with Home Depot to provide tips for organizing an office, artist’s studio or hobby workspace. Local writers, photographers, artists and other creative people can learn some new organizing tips and see products that can help save space and allow you to have more time to work on enjoyable projects.

Chili and cornbread dinner
The Payson United Methodist Church will have a chili and cornbread dinner from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 22. Hosted by the Payson United Methodist Health Ministry the dinner, which also includes a salad and beverage, is $6 for adults and $4 for children under 12. Tickets can be purchased at the church office from 8 a.m. to noon, Monday through Thursday or at the door.
The event is to help support staffing of a parish nurse, monthly blood pressure screenings and other cutting edge health care programs for the congregation and community.

The January Chamber mixer is from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 26 at the Payson Elks Lodge. The theme is Networking in 2011, so guests are encouraged to bring business cards to pass – plus there will be a space for their display.
Members of the Elks will be discussing the mission of the international organization.
There will be refreshments, door prizes and drawings. Admission is $3 for members and $5 for non-members.

Time to sign on for A Taste of Rim Country 2011!
The annual Taste of Rim Country at the Payson Public Library is planned for 5 p.m., Saturday, March 5.
Chefs of Rim Country are invited to sign on for this popular and important fund-raising event.
“The chefs’ continued support and participation are what make this night the crowd-pleaser and financial benefit that we rely on,” said Bessie Tucker, director of programs. “We know, there is always a trophy at stake, but it’s no secret that they bring their best to the table (no pun intended!) in support of our desire to remain available to the public, providing quality programs for quality living in Rim Country.”
Chef stations fill quickly, so area restaurant and professional food service chefs who are ready to join the festivities, please call Bessie Tucker or Terry Morris at (928) 474-9260 for more information.
The winning chef will receive two tickets to Cooks & Corks, a Scottsdale Culinary Festival event. Participating chefs will take home a ticket to the Great Arizona Picnic, another Scottsdale Culinary Festival event!
Chefs will draw for their station location in the library.
There will be second- and third-place titles awarded.
Payson Relay for Life
The organizing committee for the 2011 Payson Relay for Life is currently being formed.
Relay for Life is the annual fund-raising event to benefit The American Cancer Society’s efforts in support of cancer patients and also medical research working toward a cure.
