Forest Service roads are closed in the Black Mesa Ranger District due to a high fire danger. There is a possibility of clouds and isolated thunderstorms in the coming days.
Continued dry conditions and very warm days with highs in the mid to upper 80s and lows in the mid 50s. We are expected to have increased cloudiness and a possible 20 to 30 percent chance of rain this weekend on both Saturday and Sunday.
The Fourth of July fireworks have been put on hold unless we receive precipitation to reduce the likelihood of fire as a result of extremely low moisture in the trees and ground cover.
The Fourth of July events start Saturday morning, July 2 at Mogollon High School with the Anvil Shoot at 5 a.m.
Then the Patriotic Ceremony and Flag Raising and Pancake Breakfast will begin at 7 a.m. The Fourth of July Annual Parade will begin at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 2.
The Tall Timbers Park Festival activities which include music, arts and crafts, food, children’s activities and much more, start on Saturday, July 2 from noon to 7 p.m., Sunday, July 3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Monday, July 4, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The fireworks celebration will start contingent on the fire danger status Saturday, July 2 at 6 p.m. at the Mogollon High School.
The second annual Texas Hold’em Tournament Breast Cancer Charity Event is occurring on Friday, July 1 at the American Legion Post 86 in Overgaard.
Sign in starts at 7 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. start.
