Payson High To Host Youth Football Camp

The opportunity for boys entering grades three through eight to learn to play football the Longhorn way is just over the horizon. It will occur at a youth football camp to be held 9 a.m. to noon July 11 and July 12 on Payson High and Rim Country Middle School playing fields.

Assistant coach Shawn McCarthy, who once played pro football in the NFL, will assist head coach Jim Quinlan, as will the remainder of the staff and select varsity letter winners.

The camp fee is $30.The camp curriculum includes all facets of the game, from the basic fundamentals to offensive plays, defensive sets and special teams techniques.

Quinlan says he wants the camp to be a tool to help young athletes be successful next year whether it is at RCMS or in the Payson Youth Football Association. The coach also plans on having ample “fun” activities that will pique the interest of the campers all the while helping them become better players. The camps are also where many future high school, college and pro players hone their skills and build relationships.

The camp is co-sponsored by the Payson Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department. Register at:
