Hellsgate Auxiliary

The Hellsgate Fire Department Auxiliary will be holding its July meeting at 9:30 a.m., Monday, July 11 at Fire Station #22 in Tonto Village, 15 Mathews Lane.

Please come as members support the area’s heroic firefighters and plan the next fund-raising event — the annual barbecue Labor Day weekend.

There will also be a special guest talking about how to be ready in case of evacuation and dealing with fire in the area.

Pine Library Drama Camp

The Drama Camp, sponsored by the Pine Library, will be held July 11 through July 22, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Pine Community Center Cultural Hall. The camp is free.

The camp will be taught by Patti Lawrence and participants will work on the play, “The Trial of Goldilocks” with a public performance TBA.

Writing group issues invitation

Payson Raconteurs, a writing group, invites prospective members to attend meetings. The group meets for dinner at 6 p.m. each Monday at Tiny’s Family Restaurant, where works and works-in-progress are read for critique.

Photography and Camera Club

The Rim Country Photography and Camera Club will have Tom Brossart as its guest speaker at its meeting at 7 p.m., Monday, July 11.

Brossart teaches digital photography at Gila Community College and is editor of the Payson Roundup. He will be speaking on his filing system for storing photos on a computer.

The meeting is at the activity room of Rim Country Health & Retirement Community, 807 W. Longhorn Road, Payson. It is open to the public. For more details, call Harold Rush at (928) 474-9673.

Rim Area Gardeners to meet July 11

The Rim Area Gardeners meet on the second Monday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Church of Christ, 401 E. Tyler Parkway. 

This month, July 11, the topic will be “Drip Systems and Orchid Constant Watering Systems” presented by club president Paul Serfling and other club members. 

The public is invited. Refreshments will be served.

Payson Area Singles

This group has no dues, no elections and no couples.

The Tuesday Morning Breakfast Bunch meets at Tiny’s Restaurant every week at 9 a.m. to visit and plan future activities. 

Members are now planning ahead for Sept. 3 and the group’s Second Annual Potluck and Chili Contest to be held in the Tonto Apache Youth Center. There is also a Cliff Castle bus trip coming up soon and the Senior Circle has invited the group to join its members on the luxury tour bus trips, as well as trips to San Diego and Monument Valley, where there will be a Jeep tour.

Payson Womans Club to meet July 12

The Payson Womans Club, the oldest service club in Payson, holds general membership meetings at 1 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the Payson Womans Club building, 510 W. Main St. Membership is open to local women ages 18 and up.

Payson Masonic Lodge

Payson Masonic Lodge #70 F&AM meets every second Tuesday of the month. Dinner for members, their families and guests is at 5:30 p.m. with the meeting at 7 p.m. All members of the fraternity are invited to attend the meetings.

Bereaved Parents Support Group

The Compassionate Friends offers hope, reassurance, and a safe place to talk about our children with others who understand the pain of losing a child.

Anyone who has lost a child (or grandchild) at any time, at any age is welcome to attend.

Join the Gila County Sheriff’s Posse

The Gila County Sheriff’s Posse is looking for new members.

The Posse was founded back in 1967 as a volunteer group to serve the Sheriff and the people of Gila County. The Posse is called on for many emergencies such as forest fires, floods and snow.

Meetings are held at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the Gila County Sheriff’s Posse building, located just north of Main Street on McLane Road. The public is invited.

Computer class and workshop

Introduction to Computers: Class and Workshop, a hands-on class, will be held for the 10th consecutive year at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church.

The six, two-hour sessions will begin at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 13 in the parish hall, located at 1000 N. Easy St. Classes will continue through Aug. 17. Refreshments will be available.
