Concert Under the Stars
The July 16 Concert Under the Stars in Green Valley Park will feature Jerry & Judy of the Missouri Opry. Their music ranges from new country hits, old country standards and swing tunes from the 1940s to rock and roll hits of the 1950s.
A look at psychology in the movies
Gila Community College is presenting a free, 5-week seminar, on psychology in the movies.
Participants will examine different aspects of film, including the components of a movie and what makes a movie compelling. The course will look at why people want and appreciate psychological thrillers and how movies have characterized mental illness. Specific psychological disorders will be portrayed through a variety of films.
Each week, participants will view and discuss movie segments. Five of the following movies will be presented: Ordinary People, As Good As It Gets, Michael Clayton, A Beautiful Mind, No Country for Old Men, Black Swan, Fatal Attraction.
Attend this free seminar series from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Wednesdays, from July 20 through Aug. 17 on the Gila Community College campus in Payson.
Disc Golf Tournament
The 5th Annual Rim Country Open Arizona Disc Golf Tournament will be at 8 a.m., Saturday, July 23 and Sunday, July 24 at Rumsey Park, 328 N. McLane Road. Sponsored by the Arizona Disc Golf Club and the Payson Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department, this is a Professional Disc Golf Association sanctioned tournament. Participants at the Novice, Intermediate and Professional levels will play 18 “holes,” with three rounds of competition.

Robin Mark in concert
Live from Belfast Northern Ireland, Christian recording artist Robin Mark and band will present a concert at the Payson High School Auditorium at 7 p.m., Saturday July 30. Admission is free; but a love offering will be taken.
The Pine/Strawberry Business Community is planning a Mountain Daze celebration in conjunction with the August Fire on the Rim Mountain Bike Race.
The celebration will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 6 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 7 at the Pine Strawberry Ramada at the Pine Community Center. No admission will be charged to enjoy vendors, food, music and antique cars.
Also taking place the first weekend in August will be the Pine/Strawberry Health Fair.

Champagne in the Garden
Time Out, Inc. will have a fund-raising event, Champagne in the Garden, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 6 at Freegard Ranch, 27 Freegard Lane in Star Valley.
The event will be a ladies’ luncheon and hat social. Tickets are $20 and must be purchased before Aug 1.
