Sons of the American Revolution

The Rim Country chapter of Sons of the American Revolution will meet at 8 a.m. Saturday, July 16 at Tiny’s Restaurant. Anyone interested in tracing his ancestry back to the Revolutionary War is invited to attend and become involved in our organization.

Tai Chi and Qigong

Tai Chi and Qigong classes are offered at 9 a.m. Saturdays at the Rim Country Health and Retirement Community, 807 W. Longhorn Road.

The program is especially designed for seniors 50 or older, but is beneficial for all ages. There is no charge, but donations are accepted.

Kohl’s Ranch Outdoor Chapel

The Kohl’s Ranch Outdoor Chapel is now open at 8:30 a.m. every Sunday through Labor Day for multi-denominational Christian worship services.

To get to the chapel, take Highway 260 east about 15 miles from Payson to the Kohl’s Ranch turnoff where you turn right and then follow the signs and path south after the cattle guard.

Payson Center for Spiritual Awareness

Dee Redfield will speak on the topic, “Spiritual Side of Death and Dying and Don’t forget to Dig the Hole” at the next meeting of the Payson Center for Spiritual Awareness, to be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 17.

Dee is a longtime caregiver in Payson and has been extremely fulfilled in this position. Most of us do not experience death except for loved ones. Dee hopes to share a beautiful side of life through other eyes.

This talk is dedicated to Vivian Myers, who recently passed.

Overeaters Anonymous

Overeaters Anonymous meets from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays at the Rim Country Health & Retirement Community, 807 W. Longhorn Road, Payson. (After turning in driveway, turn right at first driveway. OA meets in the Community Room in the center of the facility’s apartment complex.)

Garrett Retirees

Rim Country Garrett Retirees will meet Thursday, July 21 at the Senior Citizens Center Dining Rood, 512 W. Main St., Payson. Social hour begins at 11 a.m. with lunch served at noon.

Manifesting Abundance

The Manifesting Abundance Group meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Payson Center for Spiritual Awareness, 107 W. Wade Lane.

The group will focus and intend for all sorts of abundance — physical and emotional well being, joy in relationships, true love and financial security. Join and learn how to create what you desire.

Payson Raconteurs, a writing group, invites prospective members to attend meetings. The group meets for dinner at 6 p.m. each Monday at Tiny’s Family Restaurant, where works and works-in-progress are read for critique.

Friendship Bible Class, formerly Friendship Coffee, a non-denominational Bible study for women, meets at 1 p.m. every Tuesday at Uptown Espresso. All women in the community are invited.

Moose Lodge events

The Women of the Moose meet at 6 p.m. the first and third Tuesday of each month at the lodge. The Loyal Order of the Moose meetings are at 6 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesday of each month.

The lodge has a Thursday Fish Fry from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and weekly dinner specials are available.

Payson Art League

The next meeting of the Payson Art League will be Tuesday, July 19 at Rim Country Health & Retirement Community, 807 W. Longhorn Road. Social time and show & share session at is at 6:30 p.m. The presentation follows at 7 p.m. The public is welcome.

Guest artist will be Mary Lavan, a studio potter living and creating in Pine, Ariz. Using a variety of wheel throwing and hand building techniques, she creates a very unique line of functional and decorative pottery.

Just Mare Pottery was launched in October 2007 on ETSY — an online marketplace for handcrafted items. This venue allows her to reach an international audience from her little studio in the forest. Mare will be presenting info on ETSY and how to set up a store in this unique online marketplace. Check out her Etsy shop at: to get an idea of what it’s all about, then come to the meeting presentation armed with questions of your own.

Democratic Club

The Democratic Club of Northern Gila County will meet from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 20 at Rim Country Heath & Retirement Community meeting room, located in the middle of the Quad apartments (west end of campus) at 807 W. Longhorn Road in Payson.

Our guest speaker will be Gerry Bailey, executive director of Time Out, Inc. She will be reviewing the accomplishments of their organization and plans for the future. They will also review how we can help them.

There will be reports from each of our officers and leaders of our Rim Country Democratic Women’s club and Gila County Democrats.

Membership annual dues are only $5 and can be collected at this meeting. Membership is required to vote on club business.
