Those attending will be encouraged to let staff know if they are getting everything needed from the Child and Family Team or Adult Recovery Team serving them; if it is hard to understand what is expected and how to get needs met; ask questions and make suggestions; and what is helpful.

Habitat car wash
The Payson Area Habitat for Humanity is having a car wash (as well as trucks and RVs) from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, July 16 at the Jiffy Lube located at 160 E. Highway 260 in Payson. In addition to washing vehicles, the Habitat folks will be selling root beer floats and raffle tickets for some great prizes.

Payson Farmers Market
Mother Nature is finally ripening our farmers’ veggies, with new produce coming each week. Our 4th farmer has joined us — shop early for the first tomatoes of the season! If you haven’t tried our fresh, frozen ready-to-serve Italian food, come for a sample and see what people are raving about! Relax in the shade and listen to the tunes of Southern Comfort.
The Payson Farmers Market is open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at 816 S. Beeline Highway, behind Chili’s.
Round Valley Trail hike
Rim Country residents and visitors can take part in upcoming free group hikes on the Payson Area Trails System, hosted by the Payson Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department.
At 8 a.m., Saturday, July 16 there will be a hike of the Round Valley Trail, which is rated at moderate difficulty and is 4.5 miles. Hikers will meet at the South Phoenix Trail Access, which is approximately a mile east of Highway 87 on the south side of Phoenix Street, north of the traffic light on 87 at the Payson Event Center and Mazatzal Hotel & Casino. Turn right on South Gibson Court and the trail access will be on the right.
Be sure to wear hiking boots and bring water.
Benefit car wash
Payson Care Center is having a benefit car wash from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, July 16 to raise funds for Payson Care employee Susan Shickey, who is undergoing cancer treatments.
Tickets are being pre-sold at the Payson Care Center, 107 E. Lone Pine Dr., or can be purchased the day of the car wash. The tickets are being sold on a donation basis. Shickey’s fellow employees at Payson Care Center will be washing the cars. The day of the car wash, root beer floats will also be sold and again donations will be accepted.
The Hellsgate Fire Department will be on hand with a fire truck to play on for the kids. Giant has donated soap, buckets, water and ice. Circle K has donated water. Jack in the Box has donated all the cups and straws for the root beer floats and Pepsi-Cola has donated pop to sell.
Free brush pits
This weekend, the Regional Payson Area Project….for a Fire Wise Rim Country (RPAP) will be staffing free brush drop-off points at the following locations, weather permitting:
On Saturday, July 16, the Blattner Pit will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Blattner Pit is located at Milepost 259.7 on Highway 260, east of Payson.
On Sunday, July 17, the Pine Pit will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Pine Pit is located .7 of a mile east of Highway 87 on Control Road, south of Pine.
All RPAP free drop-off locations are for brush, leaves, pine needles, trimmings and other vegetative materials only. No household garbage, construction debris or other items will be accepted. Use by commercial haulers is prohibited.
Biography writing workshop
Learn about writing a biography, conducting research, interviewing techniques, how to get published and more when Jan Cleere, author of the newly released “Levi’s & Lace: Arizona Women Who Made History,” gives a keynote presentation on Saturday, July 16. The workshop includes lunch and runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church at 800 W. Main St. in Payson.
This workshop, sponsored by the Rim Country District of the Arizona Press Women, is open to the public. The fee is $30 per person at the door (includes lunch). For information, call Noble Collins at (928) 468-2039 or email noblefc@hotmail.com.

Payson High School registration continues
Payson High School continues the 2011-2012 school year registration this week.
Returning students in grades 9-12 may register from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday, July 18; 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 19; and from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 20.
Registration July 18 is for students that do not require schedule changes. Students with schedule changes are to register on July 19 and July 20.
New students to the district in grades 9-12 will register from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, July 21.
New students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) must start the registration process at the Special Services Office, 902 W. Main St. Call (928) 472-5800 for an appointment.
