Zumbathon for Literacy
On First Friday, Aug. 5 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the Senior Center will be rocking with a Zumbathon for Literacy. Once again, Christy Walton will be leading the Zumbathon and our Payson Zumba enthusiasts can enjoy another fantastic energy-charged Zumba dance celebration. Wear your favorite blue shirt and bring a friend.
This fund-raiser is structured a little differently than the original Zumbathon.
Doors will open at 4:30 and at 5 p.m., Christy will lead a review of the basic Zumba steps. The Zumbathon will take place between 5:45 and 7:15 p.m. This event is not a contest or a competition, it’s an international fiesta, where participants are welcome to come and go as they please. Que te Mueve ... what moves you.
For an additional donation, international refreshments from the brand new Rim Country Literacy Program International Cookbook will be available throughout the Zumbathon. Water and sport drinks will be available for sale.
Tickets may be purchased in advance from Christy Walton, RCLP volunteers, the Senior Center, and the Roundup. Advance ticket prices are $10 for dancing only and $12 for dancing and refreshments. Tickets will be sold at the door as room permits. Prices at the door are $12 for dancing only, $15 for dancing and refreshments and $5 for refreshments only. The Senior Center is located at 514 W. Main St.
All proceeds from the Zumbathon will go to supporting the Rim Country Literacy Program and its programs. All dollars collected remain in the community.
