Hello again, fellow Creekers.

The Christopher Creek Independence Day Parade was a great success.

There were approximately 50 entries which included the walkers and bike riders. We hope to do it again next year as everyone seemed to have a good time.

A special thanks to Tall Pines Market for allowing us to line up in front of the store, and also to Landmark @ The Creek for letting us end it at their front door.

And of course a special thank you to the Christopher Creek Homeowners Association for the ice cream that was handed out at the end of the parade.

Some pictures can be seen on Facebook @tribute to christopher creek, and some short clips can be seen on YouTube.

This is a great picture of Mimi Tidwell, the grand marshal of the Independence Day Parade. She is chauffeured by Bobby Collins and her daughter, Rosemary Elston.

I have fond memories of growing up in a small town and being a part of the local parade.

It was always nice to see the community come together for a neat event once in awhile. I ended missing this event, but will be sure to make next year’s where I’m sure it will be memorable in its own right. So, everyone mark your calendars early for next year.

As always, I do need your help with content and stories! For anyone wanting to submit information from the Christopher Creek area for inclusion in our weekly article, please e-mail me at: info@christophercreeklodge.com. Any submitted pictures must be full-size (typically around 1MB per picture). The cutoff time for inclusion in Friday’s article is close of business on Monday.

Thanks again for reading the column.

Wonderful article. This is a great picture of Mimi, thank you for doing this story for our community. Many people put in a great deal of time and effort to put this on. I would have liked to see more pictures of the locals riding the horses though.
