Although officers lost track of him two times, a Valley man was arrested after flipping his vehicle west of town.

Lester Bitsuie Jr., 41, was northbound on Highway 87 when a Gila County sheriff’s deputy tried to pull him over around 9 a.m. Saturday. Bitsuie allegedly fled, driving into Payson. The sheriff’s office notified the Payson Police Department that deputies were pursuing Bitsuie, but a deputy had lost track of Bitsuie’s vehicle after yielding to a fire truck.

A Payson officer thought he saw Bitsuie traveling on West Country Club Drive, but due to a communication error, could not get confirmation it was Bitsuie.

Officers eventually confirmed it was Bitsuie and tried to stop him near Payson Golf Course. Bitsuie fled down West Doll Baby Ranch Road, flipping his gold SUV just west of the sanitary district. Bitsuie was arrested on a charge of extreme DUI.
