The town’s Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department offers a wide variety of activities for children and adults throughout the summer.

Payson’s Youth T-Ball League will be playing through July 16. T-ball gives youth the opportunity to learn basic athletic skills in a fun, safe environment at Rumsey Park. And it is a hoot to watch, even if you don’t have little ones on the field.

Summer Rec Camp

There are still plenty of openings in the annual Summer Rec Camp presented by the town parks department.

Children entering the first through sixth grades in the fall of 2011 can register for one or both sessions. The program is split into two age groups: one for youngsters going into the first, second and third grades, and another for those entering grades 4 through 6. This camp incorporates fun, physical and cultural activities, along with occasional field trips. Registration is required.

Session 1 will be from 8 a.m. to noon, Monday through Thursday, through June 23. Session 2 is from 8 a.m. to noon, Tuesday through Thursday, July 5 through July 22. The fee is  $75 per three-week session per child.

For adults

There are also summer programs for adults offered through the parks department:

Adult Co-Ed Sand Volleyball 4-on-4, June 13 through July 18 at Rumsey Park and Adult Men’s and Women’s Softball, June 20 through Aug. 12 at Rumsey Park.
