Nar-Anon

The Nar-Anon Family Groups is a worldwide fellowship for those affected by someone else’s addiction. As a Twelve-Step Program, it offers help by sharing experiences, strength and hope.

It is designed to help relatives and friends of addicts recover from the effects of living with an addicted relative or friend. Nar-Anon’s program of recovery uses Nar-Anon’s Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions. The only requirement to be a member and attend Nar-Anon meetings is that there is a problem with drugs or addiction in a relative or friend. Nar-Anon is not affiliated with any other organization or outside entity.

Democrats meet

The Democratic Club of Northern Gila County will meet from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 15 at the Payson Public Library meeting room located at 328 N. McLane Road.

The guest speaker will be Jack and/or Barbara Gooch who are affiliated with Katie’s Closet. They gather clothes for needy K-12 students. They will be reviewing the accomplishments of their organization and plans for the future. They will also review how we can help them.

There will be reports from each of our officers and leaders of our Women’s Club and Gila County Democrats.

Membership annual dues are only $5 and can be paid at this meeting. Membership is required to vote on club business.

Sons of the American Revolution meet June 18

The Rim Country Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will meet at Tiny’s Restaurant at 8 a.m., Saturday, June 18.

Archaeological Society

The Rim Country Chapter of the Arizona Archaeological Society meets the third Saturday of each month at the Church of the Holy Nativity at the corner of Bradley Dr. and Easy St. at 10 a.m.

This Saturday, June 18, will mark the last regular meeting before a brief summer break. This month’s lecturer is Allen Dart, a professional archaeologist working in Arizona and New Mexico since 1975. Dart’s presentation is titled Southwestern Rock Calendars and Ancient Time Pieces.

This presentation is organized in conjunction with the Arizona Humanities Council. The chapter welcomes nonmembers to attend the program.
